The Kitchen Table Restaurant

Hits and misses for the food but the flagship chicken definitely lure me for a revisit. Hopefully their menu can be extended to more varieties in the future.

If you are wondering why this eatery uses Extra Super Tanker as a name, it is because the owner finds it rather unique and easy people to remember. Just like the distinctive of the name, the customers, in addition, said that the food they are serving also unique in taste and hardly can be found in any other restaurants. Opened in July 2004, Extra Super Tanker is a Chinese restaurant in general but well known for it Seafood menu. They however, do serve family-type food preparation too. The head of chef, also the owner of the restaurant, always make sure that the food is prepared in its best. Therefore, most of the menu listed is required to be advanced in booking.
True enough, when I bit into them, the sweet bouncy fresh prawn meat took me quite by surprise, in a very good way, of course. I was told only live tiger prawn meat is used, none of the frozen kind. Known as “Prosperous Fatt Choy Dumplings”, they are priced at RM8/piece and are perfect as a simple appetizer item.
Mr Fish Fishhead Noodle at Damansara Kim, Petaling Jaya is prides for their fish head noodles made using only fresh & natural ingredients, no MSG, just the best flavours inherited from family’s home recipe.
We have only tried their noodles, fried rice, & a veggie - 1st impression: good! The restaurant was clean, service was quite prompt, waiters/waitresses were helpful, & the overall taste of food was above average (in my humble opinion). The only thing was that it's slightly more pricey than the non-airconditioned Chinese restaurants...
Overall rating: 8/10 because of its value for money as well as the pork knuckle, sausages and overall dishes I tried. The atmosphere was comfortable and not too noisy.
Since it was our first time here, we ordered the Sampler where we get to choose 6 ice-cream flavours. We chose affogato, triple chocolate, black doris plum, blood orange and cranberry sorbet, vanilla, as well as fig and honey. My personal favourites were definitely affogato and triple chocolate. Adrena said fig and honey tasted like it has gula Melaka in it. We also ordered crepe with vintage strawberry & cream and waffles with after dinner mint. You can choose your ice cream toppings to go with it but I personally would prefer ice-cream rather than sorbet.
Overall a place with good service and a nice ambiance. Suitable for gatherings and just dining when one has a little more cash in the pocket.
The menu features plenty of items. I tried the dim sum dishes. Simply loved for the freshness and taste.
Overall, it was a delicious lunch for us. Good choice to drop by for lunch with plenty of choice to choose from. Crowded during lunch hours, so it is a kind of difficult to get car parking and table. Reasonable price for big portions and most important is that the owner prepare the foods, not the foreigner workers which is very rare in Petaling Jaya/ Kuala Lumpur.
I’d still reckon this Penang Char Koay Teow is authentic and tastes pretty good. It gets a 7/10 from me.
The owner has done a very good job in eliminating smelly water and mud taste from fishes.
Overall Rating: 5/10 for the environment and prompt customer service. Food wise, I think the soup base was a huge disappointment coupled with the fact that the fish was full of bones. Compared with Win Soon Cafe, SS2 which I wrote a review on some time back, I would definitely prefer the latter. This is definitely not the best fishhead noodle in town as acclaimed by many. I will not revisit SS20 Fish Head Noodle anytime soon.
