A mound of thick round noodles topped with ikan bilis, chopped scallion, a wee bit of table sugar, pork sliced and chopped, and tiny cubes of cracklin', all crowned by a snow-white poached egg. Kin Kin's pan mee delivers on its promise -- ultra chewy noodles and a la jiao light on oil and heavy on slow-roasted chili flavor that elicits a sharp tingle, rather than the sort of tongue-searing burn that might overpower the dish's other tasty ingredients.

Extremely terrible service!!! All you've read about the grumpy owners are TRUE. Grumpy, rude, moody - get ready to be scolded! Also get ready to wait 40mins for your pan mee to arrive during peak hours. SMALL PORTION and EXPENSIVE. I would highly highly recommend going to Super Kitchen across the road - they also sell chili pan mee and it's JUST AS GOOD (seriously!) except you get excellent service, a bigger portion and the place has air-cond. Same price. Another horror story about Kin Kin: My malay students wanted to learn about pan mee so they walked into Kin Kin to observe how it's cooked. As soon as they walked in, the HORRIBLE owner shouted "OI BUAT APA SINI! SINI JUAL BABI LAH!" - yeap Kin Kin owners are seriously huge babis. Instead, they went to Super Kitchen and the owners were SO NICE that they offered my Muslim students vegetarian pan mee to taste. DO NOT GO TO KIN KIN. Go to Super Kitchen.

Forget all other pretenders to the throne, this is the one and only true king of chilli pan mee! Forgive me for gushing, but we’ve been coming here for ages (but did not think to mention it here, duh!) and this is hands down bar none (oops, gushing again) THE best chilli pan mee in Kuala Lumpur.

We were there circa 11am that Saturday, and service was pretty good, perhaps because the place was still less than half full. Therefore, I had absolutely no complaints about this chilli pan mee – it’s a bowl of noodles that’s worth sweating for! Literally!
